APC Launches Rugged UPS For Soho Segment By ChannelTimes Staff Mumbai, Jul 1, 2003 American Power Conversion, a leader in power protection solutions, today unveiled the rugged Back-UPS ES 500 a specially designed UPS for the Home/Soho segment.
Designed and tested specifically for harsh and fluctuating power conditions, the ES-500 is being made available to consumers at pretax price of Rs. 2,995. It comes with a 2-year comprehensive warranty (covering UPS and battery).
APC Back-UPS ES 500, with its wide voltage window (140 to 296 VAC), ensures that only clean, IT grade power is passed onto the PC, thereby protecting it and enabling safe work even under very poor power conditions.
"The UPS market in India is flooded with cheap and local UPS which operate in small pockets, along with a few national brands. Consumers are unaware that high and low voltage fluctuations, surges, spikes and unexpected power cuts can damage their valuable PCs and get swayed by the low price of these cheap and inferior UPS," said Anand Iyer, country general manager, APC, India.
"We are introducing the Back-UPS ES500 specifically to address the need for a rugged and reliable UPS at an affordable price. This model will work well in poor power conditions, a situation prevalent in most parts of the country," added Iyer.
The ES 500 also comes bundled with free Power Chute Personal edition software, which has a variety of features like monitoring of performance parameters, providing flexibility of changing threshold parameters, automatic self-tests and performing graceful OS shutdown.
"We are excited at the launch of the Back-UPS ES 500, a fair amount of research, time and effort has gone into designing this specifically to handle the challenging power conditions prevalent in India and we are confident that it will serve the Indian market well," said Joe Loberti, general manager, APC Consumer Networks Group, Rhode Island, USA.
APC is rolling out a nationwide meet with channel partners to inform and educate them on the benefits of the new product. A marketing and advertising campaign spanning 38 cities is also being unveiled across media.
